What is a Gray Ghost?

Gray Ghosts (GGs) are experienced volunteers who serve as the backbone of our construction efforts. Named for the gray shirts they wear, these dedicated individuals bring their repair know-how and leadership skills to our build and home repair sites on a regular basis.

What Gray Ghosts Do:

Volunteer about 8 days per month on builds, repair projects, and community workdays
Complete advanced construction and repair tasks that require skill and precision
Lead and mentor less experienced volunteers, helping guide small teams and ensuring a safe, productive work environment
Support staff and ensure quality work that aligns with Habitat standards and homeowner needs

We primarily focus on home repairs for older adults that range from fixing water damaged floors, building wheel chair accessible ramps, installing grab bars, handrails, and guardrails, replacing damaged sheetrock, repairing simple electrical and plumbing fixtures like toilets and ceiling lights, rebuilding decks and steps, etc. More complicated repairs are delegated to contractors like replacing roofs, electrical rewiring, and major plumbing repairs.

When we have an active home build, Saturdays become the dedicated day to work on the build site.
